Every day in the UK, 23 young people, under the age of 25, are killed or seriously injured in vehicles. Most of these collisions are caused by bad driving – not the vehicle, the road, or the conditions. Driving is the biggest single killer of young people.
The Advanced Driving Test was designed to contribute to road safety, and the facts demonstrate that nearly 70%* of drivers who receive Advanced Driver coaching show significantly safer skills in a number of key areas*.
The IAM exists to reduce the number of casualties on the roads by improving driving standards. IAM-Registered Instructors are uniquely qualified to make a significant contribution to this objective.
The IAM-Registered Instructor Scheme has been created to recognise and facilitate the unique contribution that ADI’s, who are also IAM members, can make to road safety. By recognising such ADI’s as ‘IAM-Registered Instructors’ we can now offer you the right to:-
- Display the “IAM-Registered” logo on your vehicle, publicity and stationery – the quality standard recognised by all drivers and learner drivers.
- Have your personal entry on the IAM website of Registered ADI’s, which is accessible by Pupils and Parents seeking Instructors for L-Driving, Pass Plus and the IAM Advanced Test.
- Have access to a structure for providing Instruction to the Advanced Test for Pupils who have recently passed the L-Test. This structure includes lesson contents - ‘Teaching for the IAM Advanced Test’ which also covers the Pass Plus syllabus, so that it can be used in conjunction with your existing Pass Plus business.
- Confer on your Pupils IAM ‘Associate’ status of the IAM + benefits, with a first year Membership fee of just £18.
- Earn £10 commission every time a pupil passes the Advanced Test – having mentioned your name on their application. Payable to you, when you provide the tuition yourself, or, if instead, you influence the pupil to take the Skill for Life package, so that they are prepared for the Test by the IAM Group movement.
- Use your IAM membership for Continued Personal Development. When CPD becomes a requirement, IAM will offer varied CPD courses; both Business and Technically orientated, including training to the DSA Fleet Trainer qualification.

You just need to be an ADI, and also a current Full Member of the IAM.

There are two routes to taking the Test:-
a) The ‘Skill for Life’ package costs £99; as well as the Test, this includes the manual, and additionally provides help with your Test preparation from IAM volunteers in your area.
