Losing the L plates is a great achievement, so well done. But the driving test only goes so far and at the end of the day you can pass without experiencing many of the challenges that driving can throw your way.
You may never have driven at night, or in snow, heavy rain, or thick fog. You may never have navigated winding country roads or crowded city streets. And there’s certainly not a part of the driving test which ticks off how to be a designated driver on a night out with a car full of mates who are fun but distracting!
Now imagine a combination of the scenarios above. How about distracting friends, on a winding road in thick fog? Unless you’re exceptionally lucky it’s almost certainly going to happen at some point.
The good news is that you don’t need to re-sit the driving test to be better prepared. In just two steps our Momentum assessment can help you identify how to further improve your driving.
Step 1 - An online assessment that can be completed in the comfort of your own home before going out on the road. It helps to assess the environment in which you typically drive and gets a handle on your attitude to road risks.
Step 2 - A 60 minute on-road, general assessment by a qualified IAM examiner. At the end of the drive you will receive a copy of the completed assessment form.
The result? You are more able to keep your focus and enjoy the journey, even if the pressure is on.
* Momentum only costs £45 and if you sign up for our advanced driving programme within 12 months, we’ll discount the cost from the normal price of £149, so you can become an advanced driver for just £104.
If you then pass the advanced driving test, as a full IAM member you can benefit from many discounts and member benefits including likely savings on your motor insurance.
