To mark its tenth anniversary, the AA Foundation held a one-day international conference in Birmingham coinciding with the 1996 Forum of European Road Safety Institutes' conference.
Entitled How safe? Foundations for the Future the conference included presentations by eminent road safety experts and offered delegates an opportunity to participate in a debate on the AA Foundation's record and future strategy. This debate was conducted in the broader context of world-wide efforts to enhance road safety, perhaps by directly influencing road-user behaviour or by making changes to education, legislation and enforcement as well as to the highway infrastructure.
