IAM Fleet has signed a landmark 10-year co-operation agreement with Emirates Driving Institute (EDI), with whom it will work to develop advanced driving training skills throughout the Greater Middle East and thereby help improve driving standards in the region.
To achieve the aim, IAM Fleet has trained a select group to give advanced instruction to drivers of cars, HGVs and emergency service vehicles. Eighty five per cent of the instructors are from the Indian sub-continent and between them have the experience and language skills to operate in: Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Pakistan, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and Yemen, as well as Dubai where EDI has its headquarters. The instructors will be re-assessed on an annual basis by the IAM’s Senior Training Team.
EDI was formed in 1991, is the largest and most successful driving institute in the Middle East and has carried IAM Fleet accreditation since 2005.
Said Lloyd Brown, IAM Fleet’s Head of Training, “This is an exciting joint venture, which we are confident will do much to help raise driving standards in this rapidly developing part of the world. We enjoy an excellent relationship with EDI. Indeed, a member of our Senior Training Team, Tony Walters, was recently presented with an award as a token of their appreciation for the work he and IAM Fleet are doing.”
