Neil Greig has been appointed as the new Director of the IAM Motoring Trust, the research and advocacy arm of the IAM.
Neil, 48, takes over this month (August 2007) from Bert Morris, who continues as a consultant to oversee the completion of the Trust's current research projects and advise on the future programme.
Neil has worked in motoring Public Affairs in Scotland since 1992 and in the West Midlands throughout the mid 1980s. His new role involves setting the strategic direction for the IAM Motoring Trust, coordinating its research efforts and working with the media and opinion formers across the UK. He will continue to represent the IAM Trust in Scotland providing media comments, replying to consultations and lobbying the Scottish Parliament and Executive on behalf of road-users.
“It will be a tough act to follow, taking over from Bert Morris, but I am confident that the team of experts we have assembled within the IAM Motoring Trust will enable us to build up a solid body of road safety evidence-based policies,” said Neil, who lives in Kilmacolm near Glasgow.
Bert Morris paid tribute to his successor.
"At 63, and after a career spanning 47 years, it is the right time for me to pass on the reins to my colleague Neil Greig. Having worked with Neil for over 20 years, I know first hand that he has the personality and the skills to make the IAM Trust a powerful and effective voice for safe and responsible motoring, and I wish him every success in this challenging role."
Neil was Head of Policy with the AA Motoring Trust until its merger with the IAM Motoring Trust in December 2006, having worked in a similar role with the AA at Erskine since 1992. He was National Programmes Director for EuroRAP (European Roads Assessment Programme) coordinating accident risk analysis work in several European countries.
Colin Skeen continues as Chairman of the IAM Motoring Trust.
