How can the Group help me?

On joining the Huddersfield Group via the Skill for Life, 'Associate' Members will be allocated an 'Observer'. The Observer's role is to give guidance (free of charge) to the Associate, in order to bring his/her driving up to the standards required by the Advanced Driving Test of the Institute. Sessions usually last around one hour per week and are arranged between the Associate and the Observer to suit themselves. The test lasts approximately one and a half hours and will cover all classes of roads, from motorways, town centre, urban and rural areas.

The Huddersfield Group offers Associate Members guidance for motorcars (manual and automatics).

Obviously, submitting yourself for a driving test of this type requires a certain amount of preparation and the best way to bring your standard of driving up to the I.A.M. standards is to join a local group as an 'Associate' member. In statistical terms, the advantage of such action is quite clear. A member of the public taking the Advanced Driving Test only stands a 50% chance of passing at a first attempt. However, a group 'Associate' member increases his/her chance of a first time pass to as much as 95%.

So why should you join the Huddersfield group? We have a friendly team of Observers to help and encourage you to pass the Institute's Advanced Driving Test, monthly meetings with guest speakers (on a variety of subjects, not just motoring - ranging from Police Accident Investigation Units to humorous local characters), local quizzes, inter-group driving competitions and a variety of social events.

The advantages of passing the Advanced Driving Test are numerous - becoming a better driver and increasing safety on our roads. Some Insurance Companies do offer members special rates. Advanced driving is not about racing. It isn't about speed. It's all about skill.
