How can the Group help me?

The aim of the Institute of Advanced Motorists is to reduce the number of accidents and to promote a higher standard of driving through driver education and the Advanced Driving Test. The Brighton Area Group run an Associate scheme on a 1:1 basis. You will be allocated an observer who is trained to assist you to improve your driving skills and to pass the Advanced Test.

How does the Group Operate?

All observed runs are FREE and you can have as many as you need to reach the Advanced Test standard. Observed drives are conducted on a one-to-one basis in your own car at a time convenient to you and your Observer. Each drive will last for about one to one and a half hours and will cover all types of roads. After each drive there will be a debrief and your Observer will complete an assessment form for you to keep.

Socially, we meet once a month, usually on the first Wednesday. During the winter this is at the. Ditchling Village Hall, Ditchling, at 7:45 for 8:00 p.m., where we have talks, quizzes, film shows etc., while in the summer months there are some outdoor events and visits. These meetings and events are open to all members, associates, spouses, guests and friends.
