Road Rider Plus will help make you a better, safer and more responsible rider. And help you enjoy it even more!
Skill, control and thinking ahead
Better riding is not about riding slower, its about helping you to stay one step ahead of other road users. Knowing how to safely predict hazards, anticipate other riders behaviour and accurately assess road and traffic conditions will help you to become a more controlled, confident and ultimately, a better rider.
Did you know that on average, over 80 people a day are killed or seriously injured in road accidents?
The majority of these accidents are not caused by the vehicle, the road or the conditions, but by bad riding or driving. Dont become part of that statistic book the IAMs Road Rider Plus assessment today.
So, who should take the Road Rider Plus assessment?
Youre a rider of a scooter, moped or sub-125cc machine and youve got your provisional licence. Youve done your CBT and youve now been riding for a short time, or perhaps a little longer and youre thinking of putting in for the full test. Whatever the situation, Road Rider Plus will give you a clear indication of your skills and abilities, together with recommendations for any areas that require a little more attention and fine-tuning. Being a rider is all about continuous improvement and this is the best way to do so, post-CBT.
What does Road Rider Plus involve?
Road Rider Plus is a half-day (approx. 3 hours) training assessment with an Approved Training Body, registered by the DSA and a qualified professional MCITA trainer. After a few pre-ride checks, the rest is on-road*, where many crucial riding skills will be observed. Although there is no test, you will be assessed on all of these skills and receive a personalised Riding Assessment report.
But Road Rider Plus is more than that it will also help you to become safer and more confident through the thorough advice given by the trainer.
*There may be a maximum of 2 trainees per trainer.
Where and when can I do it?
Road Rider Plus is available in the following areas; Bolton and Greater Manchester, Hull, West Midlands, Gloucestershire, Bristol and Bath, Reading, South London, Crawley, Southend and the south coast (Portsmouth Dorchester), Stratford-upon-Avon.
