Safety and adequate funding key issues for drivers in new road signs review says IAM

The IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) welcomed the DfT's new road sign review (announced today, 13 September, see note 1) as good news for drivers but only if funds are made available to implement its findings.

An IAM spokesperson said, "Drivers already see signing in poor condition every day and new designs and driver information technologies will not come cheaply.Safety must underline this review rather than a short-term desire to cut down on clutter.Key safety signs work and must not be removed or downgraded."

In the meantime, drivers can play their part by alerting the responsible authorities to concerns they have about road signs.
