The AA Foundation was a major sponsor of the IHT's publication of guidelines covering a strategic approach to management of road safety in rural areas - routes with a speed limit of more than 40mph, together with villages and small townships with a population less than 3000 lying on those routes.

The research was coordinated through an IHT Working Group, chaired by Barbara Sabey and on which DETR, TRL, local authorities and the AA Foundation were represented.

This publication, for which a charge is made, is not available direct from the AA Foundation; enquiries should be directed to: The Institution of Highways and Transportation, 6 Endsleigh Street, London WC1H 0DZ (www.iht.org.uk)
